What Pak Urdu Installer is, what it sets up, how to install it, and how to use phonetic Urdu typing with InPage through conversion.
Pak Urdu Installer is a small, free Windows utility that sets up everything you need to read and write Urdu on a computer in one step. It installs Urdu Unicode fonts, enables the Urdu language, and adds a phonetic keyboard so you can type Urdu by sound using the English keys you already know.
It became popular because it removed the guesswork. Before it existed, getting Urdu working meant installing fonts, enabling language packs and configuring keyboards by hand. Pak Urdu Installer bundles all of that into a single installer aimed at everyday users.
Here is the key point many users miss. Pak Urdu Installer produces Unicode Urdu. Classic InPage expects its own encoding, so text typed with the phonetic keyboard will not drop straight into old InPage looking correct. The fix is simple: type your Urdu with the phonetic keyboard, then run it through our Unicode to InPage converter before placing it in InPage. For the reverse journey, use InPage to Unicode.
If you prefer not to install anything, you can type with our online Urdu keyboard, or switch on the built in Windows Urdu layout, which we explain in this guide. Newer InPage versions also read Unicode directly, reducing how often you need to convert at all.
